My Weekly Inspiration
This week is finals week, and then I fly out next Friday! To say that I can’t wait would be the understatement of the year, however with huge changes comes a little stress. 6 exams in a week along with final presentations?! No
thank you!
My weekly inspiration is a day late, but I've decided not to
count yesterday and to let my week start today. This week is going to be a
whirlwind of activities and events, so it’s important for me to stay on my game
and stay motivated. What motivates you this week? Equip yourself with things that inspire you and motivate you. Here's my list for the week, and why they made the top 5.
1. Sara Bareilles- "Let the Rain Fall" |
The current song I’m What this song’s message says to me is “embrace life. Don’t try to be perfect. Instead of looking at how far you have left to go, look at how far you’ve come. Let yourself be happy.” After all, what’s more important in life? Also- check out “Brave”, “Chasing the Sun”, and “Breathe Again”. My favorites.
2. Celebrations
Who needs an excuse to celebrate? This month is a month of celebrations- make it one! Celebrate yourself. Toast to how far you've come. Toast to what this new year is going to bring! Toast to everything you’ve accomplished this past year. Toast to your friendships. Toast to a new day, with new experiences. Make time to celebrate life.
3. Traveling
As i’m sure everyone is aware of by this point, I leave for Europe in nine days- Nine! Where does the time go?! Even if you aren’t going to Europe or jetsetting around the world, take some time to explore new places! Take a road-trip to a new state, or go backpacking in the mountains. Head to the beach to camp and have a bonfire. Drive two hours and see where you end up- go see new sights. There’s so much out there to explore. Don’t get stuck in a rut and allow yourself to be defined by your surroundings. Let your curiosity lead you to a new adventure.
4. “The Best Way to Predict Your Future, is to Create It”
I love the idea that we are in control of our own futures. I have a friend who does so many amazing things and is so accomplished, but yet he makes it look effortless. I never understood how he did so many things without getting stressed. Then I realized that I can’t compare myself to others. We can become bitter, or we can become better and one certain way to become bitter is to compare ourselves to others. Realize that if you don’t like your surroundings, change them. Instead of complaining, act on the situation and create a life you love- create your future.
5. Girl Time
|
I didn’t realize until recently how important it is to have a strong support system. My favorite friendships are real friendships- the friendships where you can go months without seeing each other and then pick up right where you left off. I have a few friends like this in my life, and let me tell you that those friendships are few and far between. They’re hard to come by, but they last. Time and distance can’t tear these friendships apart, and that’s what makes them so beautiful.
I recently spent a few hours catching up over a Starbucks latte with two long-time friends whom I have not seen in absolute ages. When we were all together again, things hadn’t changed a bit.
