It's All News to Me: The Best Online Travel Services

Dear Readers,

Traveling can be extremely expensive.... Traveling can also be extremely economical. The choice is yours.

Newsflash:

You don't have to sacrifice comfort for cost.

Here's the 4-1-1 on jetsetting through Europe without breaking the bank.

1. Airbnb

Airbnb is my favorite website. While staying in a hostel has it's benefits (meeting other cool travelers such as yourself), airbnb allows people to rent anywhere from a single room up to an entire apartment for close to the same price as a hostel.
Airbnb is a great source to utilize when you're traveling in groups, spending a long amount of time in an area, or even if you just simply like to have your own space.

2. Blablacar

Traveling, but don't want to pay the price of an airplane or train ticket? Carshare for half of the cost! Carsharing is a new thing that is quickly gaining popularity in Europe. For less than half of the cost of a plane or train ticket, you can make your trip simply by pitching in for gas with someone who's already traveling nearby.
Carsharing works even when you're traveling country to country. It's best reserved for those who have flexible travel schedules.

3. HostelWorld

Hostelworld is the best website for finding a hostel, hands down. The website allows users to see reviews from real customers and most hostels have thousands of ratings so you can accurately judge what the hostel will be like. No booking fees, guides, and a mobile application. Need I say more?

4. Rome2Rio

Rome2Rio is my favorite for planning how i'm going to get somewhere. You input your destination and dates, and Rome2Rio will calculate every way to travel to the destination, the price of each way, and tells you how long travel times are. It's like Google Maps, except it calculates travel costs and links you directly to the websites with the best prices.

5. SkyScanner

Out of all of the travel intermediaries out there, SkyScanner seems to have the lowest prices on airfare. Most of the prices can't be beat, even by going to a specific airlines website. Be careful though, if for any reason you may need to change the date of your flight be sure to purchase travel insurance! SkyScanner is strict about their policies.

6. RoadTrippers

RoadTrippers is a wonderful website that allows you to map out your itinerary. It offers navigation services, guide and attraction suggestions, and allows you to save a trip so you can revisit it and tweak it. Oh, and it's also 100% free.

7. Couch Surfing

I love, love, love couch surfing. My family has hosted many interesting people, and I've enjoyed the people I've couch surfed with. The website is safe, allows users to leave reviews, and offers a whole new way of traveling. It's one of the easiest ways to immerse yourself into a country. It's like staying with a host family, but for a shorter period of time.

My trips I have planned for this next month definitely make me look forward to the weekend! I'll be heading to my families mountain house in Bardonecchia this weekend, and then heading to the Cinque Terre, Milan, Florence, and Paris in April. Can't wait to spend time in gorgeous Tuscan scenery!

A dopo,
Morgan
